July 13 - The Eagle has landed....

So, we had to wait for a while for the rain to stop before taking a short walk on the beach. Went upstream a little distance, and then realized we would have to wade across to go further. We could have done it, but decided it was easier to just turn around and head the other direction, back past our truck to and past the area we spent two nights ago. Right near the beer drinkers and (thankfully not) hell raisers. Still is a little odd. There is a tent pitched in a small grove of trees. A back pack in the open, nearby, that doesn't look like it has been touched in several days. And, of course, a MIGHTY pile of beer cans, attesting to their drinking capacity...

I started to clean it up yesterday, but that's when I discovered the tent, and that someone was in it. Never mind. On we went...

The one below looks a lot like the smoke drifting up from the Riley Creek Fire at the entrance to Denali National Park which I posted on July 2.

We saw this truck in town yesterday. We are now parked about two hundred yards apart...

Pretty beefy transportation, Not many windows!

And, here was the afternoon's Big Surprise, a Bald Eagle! It landed on a small tree in the river, maybe 100 yards away. I snuck out of the truck and grabbed my camera out of the front seat, happy to have that big lens on it, and fired away. Very impressive bird!

That is probably it for the evening. Very glad Donald Trump survived that attempt on his life today.
